Since arriving back in the UK we can not get any UK tv stations on our Camos Dome, got some while in Spain but not even Sky News here, I know the Satellite has been repositioned so do I need a software update and does this happen with Satellite dish as well (Oyster and others)

It's Monday today and it was fine yesterday. Did it change last night?
The change should not affect UK significantly anyway.
Otherwise every SKY household in Britain would be having issues

I tried in Oxford area last night no visible obstructions so should have got something but no now't at all so tomorrow I will try again, the Astra 2 satellite was moved to a new position last month and I know they lost channels overnight in Portugal, but I would still expect to get the stations in the UK.

Yes they're still at 28.2 that has not changed. Sky would retune boxes automatically for subscribers but they cant move peoples dishes! So the only thing that can be wrong is your box needs retuning, the satellites are still where your dish points.

The Camos system is programmed to seek and lock to a transponder signal in each of the satellites shown on the controller panel. The change from Astra 2A to 2E means that the transponder signal is not available. [Astra 2A may well have been switched off] A sat receiver tells the controller which sat to look for. If your sat receiver asks for Astra at 28.2 and the transponder is not broadcasting it will not find the satellite!
Road pro were saying that you will need a new controller/circuit board/ chip at a cost ????
I have had some contact with Roadpro and Wiworld who made the units
Road pro are now saying they have been sent an update file but they do not know if it will work ????
The units should be easily re-programmed via the RS-232 connector on the back of the controller however Roadpro are saying that this requires a specialist portable programming
unit ???
Watch this space and if you have problems start shouting at your supplier/installer.
Your unit will still lock in to Astra at 19.2 so it is not broken.
Do not accept the "Needs parts" "Dirty Dome" "Defective LNB"

Usually firmware programmes are updated for free in communications equipment when the authorities change parameters. Why should Camos domes be any different?

As an afterthought I have been told that the newest units have now got a USB upgrade facility built in making reprogramming a DIY job!

I have been in touch with Roadpro and they assure me the Camos will work perfectly on 28.2°E as before and there is no software update at present required. All it means is the spot signal will make you lose BBC1 and some other channels a lot further North than you use to get it.

Can confirm our Roadpro Wiiworld dome has been working fine all this week too, no changes made, just as it was for the past year.

The 2007 Camos dome that I have access to has the problem I describe.
Newer units may well have modifications built in to the controller programming to allow lock on to a different signal from the satellites at 28.2.
Road Pro have said that they have been supplied, by Wiworld, with a 'File' to update the firmware on Camos Static domes.
Roadpro have expressed doubts that the file supplied by their manufacturer will work ????
They have offered no explanation as to why it may not work.

We were told today that in order to be able to lock the satellite to 28.2 we will have to have fitted a new circuit board and a replacement chip in the dome itself???
The cost will be in excess of £300
This is a fully functional Camos Dome that requires a firmware update not a new controller etc!
If they will not release the software file and make public the upgrade procedure then any owners of units not containing revised firmware are now sitting with very expensive doorstops that are not worth the upgrading cost due to the new restricted broadcast footprint making reception of Astra  programs difficult outside the UK.
A high gain freeview aerial costing around £40 will provide as good reception within the UK to all televisions with a free view tuner in most areas and will require no special installation.
I forecast a huge drop in dome sales this year!
