We saw some super looking free standing wind jammers outside some
motorhomes last year and didn't get the name...thing they are made abroad but sold in this country you don't need guide riles to erect and secure them...the food in and they click out like a camping chair mechanism ( I would be no good at Charades so hope you get the gist) can any of you lovely informative people tell me where to source them for the lovely uk sunshine or wind that may be in its way ....help thank you...

Just get some blue diamond windbreaks, the canvas type with wood poles, they are OK unless it is really windy but they stay up better than the ones with steel poles and a little spike on them

Gotta disagree here Ken, there were plenty of the windjammer type around the Dutch and German m/hs on the Marjal in Spain and we had some very strong winds and all those around us were still up next morning, saying that we saw some really great awnings fully fitted and wind proofed around the m/h and caravans and they were stunning some had every conceivable extras like washing m/cs, fridges , tv and furniture in them, but lest not forget these peeps are there for at least 4 months at least, so are living home from home.

As for the cost I tremble to think as some of them must have run into many many hundreds of €s

I didn't mention windjammer  Very Happy
I said windbreaks, meaning the windbreaks you can get with steel poles that fold down like tent poles, you need a dozen guy ropes to keep them up - even then its touch and go if they stay up

Marie, we saw the windbreaks that you have in your link being erected at the Newark Show when we went in 2012.  They are easy (but time consuming) to erect as everything comes flat packed and when you take them down, again you have to flat pack them and put the poles in a bag.  When they are up, they look good.  They were kept in place with thin metal pegs (like an awning skirt).

We thought they looked good and if you have a dog and want to stay somewhere for several days (or weeks) then they are a good idea.  As we don't own a dog any more and we like to talk to our neighbours and have an easy set up and leave, we decided they were not for us.

I hope the above helps you make up your mind about them.

Thank you everyone we took kens advice and purchased the beach ones...we are now selling the outwell ones on the for sale forum....the guide ropes can be a pain but they served our purpose we now need longer ones as the new van is longer the outwell looks nice outside the van with the little windows if anyone wants to grab a bargain we paid £100 for ours they are on for 2 sets for £49 or one set for £29 ...see for sale forum

I gave mine to the local scout group free of charge as I can't be doing with ropes and tie downs.my next set are the ones you just hit  into the ground like ken says with steel tips.
