First topic message reminder :

I have put this in the 2013 meets section because we have had quite a bit of interest in it, please remember though that it is a C&CC rally, not a Motor-Homers rally.

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival
16/17th Aug 2013
The festival is open from the 10th to the 18th

We come across this festival about 10 year ago whilst just driving round that area one weekend, see the car park full so we went in to see what was going on - as you do!
I think i would put this down as one of the nicest villages I have ever walked round, the scarecrow festival is good too, every house joins in, there are scarecrows made up of anyone like the queen, celebs, animals, and some are really funny, you have to look hard for some of them, they aren't all in the gardens or doorways.
I tried to get this as a rally for us but the site in the village only had 3 available places.
I then got a number for someone with a field, turns out C&CC Huddersfield DA have this booked as a temporary holiday site from the 2nd to the 18th Aug so we will be going with them, if you want to join us though, just add your names here in the usual way and I will contact them and see if its possible for us all to be parked together.

This is a C&CC rally
Price is £7.50 per night - YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF C&CC
The fields we will be on are on the right in THIS picture, as you can see it's right on the edge of the village, couple of pubs, cafes ETC all within walking distance

Edit - I am having to set a deadline on this if anyone wants to join us.
You need to add your name to the list by the end of June as I have to contact them then with names, registration numbers, C&CC membership number and a one night deposit per van.

Fresh water tap is near the steward as you come in so either bring water or fill up before you pitch. Homers field is towards the back but the toilet emptying pont is halfway between the entrance gate and your field.  Grey water in the hedgerows. You will be near a trailer that takes rubbish but recycling is in the car park over the road.

Enjoy and let me know the final answer to the scarecrow quiz.

We are there already and boy was the village busy today with coach tours and car trippers but good atmosphere.

Still lots of space and the Motorhomers field is empty

Just for info. just over the bridge turn right and you will see a rope facing you and as far as I know you need to ignore the rope and carry on sharp right down the narrow un-made road.

BIG CORRECTION

The Marshall is taking everyone through the rope directly facing you as you turn right over the bridge and then right across their field to your field.

Please be aware that is rained much of the night and there are one or two soft spots

A word of caution for Motorhomers coming to Kettlewell

Keep on the hard bit before the rope while you book in.

Just beyond it is a wet patch that is grabbing the un-aware if they stop upon entering.

The good news is a local tractor has appeared to rescue stuck vans

Not good weather but at least we have wi fi thanks to Les and someones fon signal. Plenty of scarecrows in the village but not too many visitors looking round. Lets hope the rain keeps away so as not to make the exit too bad. Hope to put faces to some of the names we see on the forum.

Nice to see some Motorhomers again and hope you all get off before the mud gets too bad.

We are off for winter on the 3rd September so may be June before we see some of you again, except the ones heading to the sun of course.

Have a good Autumn and Winter

Alan and Lynda

If anyone wants to return to Kettlewell, you can stay here, maybe down by the workshop or in the bottom field, contact me and I will pass you the details of who to contact

Was a good weekend apart from the lousy weather yesterday Sad
Sorry Ihad to dash off this morning but had to go into work, all done now and home, finished earlier than expected.
Les and Keith - Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye, did come over but all blinds closed

Nice to meet you all....Keith, Kath, Sue and me were last to leave...by which time the field exit was total gunge. You guessed it, we both got stuck. Turned out to be interesting, as the chap who towed us off is Norman Close, brother of famous Ex-Stock Car World Champion, Mike Close. Being big Stock Car fans, we had a good natter Smile
