The sigmonster should get me some close-ups and action shots before the rain returns in the morning. Been stuck in the house for a few days now and am bustin' to get out. | Colin and I went to Saltburn for some fresh air Thursday. Viewed the damage to the sea front caused by the tidal surge last month. The tide was in and quite 'angry' with the spring high tide. Stayed only long enough to enjoy fish and chips then we came home as we have not been well over Christmas and the New Year.

Off to see the doctor this morning as my spinal x-rays have arrive on his desk and he wants to see me this morning, must say I am a tad concerned.

This is serious
I have lost a knitting needle
Around 3 o clock- 10. O'clock when I needed to change the size of needle
I have looked and cannot find it
It must be at my daughters
So now I can't do anymore knitting
Yes this is serious | |

| Following on from the one or two mentions in this thread of visits to the doctors. I had a routine visit myself yesterday afternoon, no changes needed but was given (or so she thought) prescriptions for a YEAR . I said to the doctor (17 year old girl, well she looked 17) that I had been to the practice quite a few times in the past few weeks because my oldest son contracted scarlet fever and was very ill with it, firstly it was diagnosed as glandular fever because the symptoms are similar but when his blood test results came back it was confirmed as scarlet fever, very nasty indeed. So several trips to the surgery on that front, followed by a couple with my wife for routine stuff. Each time there were only 2-4 people in the waiting room and we were seen very quickly which I found surprising due to previous experience with this busy practice. After getting my prescriptions for a YEAR[/size] it became clearer, if all routine patients are now seen yearly instead of half yearly the result is an (almost) empty waiting room which is good. On the other hand you now have to rely on diagnosing yourself before deciding a visit to the doctor is necessary, possibly no change there either for most of us but I think I would be more comfortable being checked (BP, weight, heart rate etc.) more regularly than a YEAR. Anyone else have this economy foisted upon them? Cal PS When I got home I counted the prescriptions and there were 14, so the 17 year old can't count either. | |

Yes this is serious Polly I feel your pain if you lived nearer I would bring you loads of needles. I use Knit pro circulars so can't lose needles anymore. Could you use a needle either a quarter size smaller or larger. Only a knitter would understand. Whilst waiting in the Drs surgery a lady came in and promptly started knitting. Wish I had taken mine cos I was waiting half hour to have BP checked.

Polly I couldn't give any of my knitting needles/patterns/wool away. I have a couple of my Grandmas knitting books which I am told are valuable. I remember grandma knitting using the patterns and fine 2ply wool
