Off up to the highlands June 20th to July 3rd
Nothing booked, will call the ferry company and see if I need to book or just turn up, apart from that I'm just stopping where and when I feel like it

Orkneys ferry megs money ??????!

Do the western isle Ken great wild camping and good roads, ferry hopscotch 8 fare was very good with CalMac

About £140 return
Orkneys is a place we both fancy visiting so decided to go there this year

Just gone through the booking again and it £156 return, tried all combinations of times and it's all the same

If you go to the Orkneys can I give you a LIST of members of our family from our family tree to fill in gaps eg church yards record offices etc etc

It will give Adele something to do

3 day shifts, a weekend away, then 3 night shifts and we are off
Looking forward to this one, always like going up Scotland, its nice to get on quieter roads away from all the rush rush driving down here.
Just been looking into the ferries again, they don't seem to get fully booked often so we are just going to turn up and hope we can get on.

Setting off about 9:30 in the morning, run for a few hour then bed down for a couple I think, might go a bit further after

On the ferry, adele looking a bit green and we only just set off

Found a lovely wild camping spot yesterday so stayed there last night, On a site in Kirkwall tonight, had a good look round the town today, will do the harbour tomorrow then we are heading up the east coast, wilding it for the next 2 nights, then maybe staying at a site near Stromness.
Was nice and warm yesterday but cloudy, one of them muggy days  Sky cleared about an hour before the sun went down, bit late eh!
Had a seal that kept coming for a look at us yesterday  wasn't far out, probably about 20-30 feet at most.
Rained heavy during the night but not had much during the day, forecast showers in the morning then supposed to pick back up again according to the local forecast.

Yeah, only got a couple of photos though, there was a lot of people in, I'll post more when I get home

Are i going to the royal oak museum at scapa flow thats intresting

Don't know what we are doing, no plans, just take it has it comes, just driving about exploring, if we see something interesting we'll stop, were not really into history

Just waiting for the tide to drop so I can walk over to the island and hopefully find some puffins.
Was wild here last night, found a nice wild camping spot but it was blowing a gale, come to put yhe fire on and it wouldn't light, looks like the ignitor has gone, so we found a site and stayed on there just so we could have some heat!
Seems to be picking up today, still a little breezy but the sun is out

Enjoy gods country ken watch out for the 3 leggard haggis

it could be the battery is gone,not the ignitor.just a thought.

At Stromness now, back to the bustling city life :-)
Going to head south soon and find a nice beach location to stay tonight, just booked return crossing for thursday morning.
Life goes slow over here, feels like we have been away ages!

If u get a chance have a look at durness right at the top towards ullapool from scrabster its stunning watch that a9 police hide up trees down there enjoy gods country

Back on the mainland, currently at john o groats, hardly seen any flies all week but this place is crawling, time for off, I aint stoping here

Well since John O Migies, sorry John O Groats, we drove down to Inverness after an overnight stay at Helmsdale

Continued down the A82 down by Loch Ness

Now at the side of Loch Lomond, not getting  out of the van here, the air is alive  

That A82 is a lovely scenic drive but gets a bit tedious, left bend, right bend, left bend, right bend for about 180 mile, some gorgeous scenery though, especially round Glencoe  

Having a rest now from driving, heading for Gretna tomorrow and staying there till Tuesday morning when we set off home
