| I havent used microsoft windows for about 12 year, but at the minute I am thinking of getting rid of my desktop pc and getting a laptop. If I do get one I will try windows again for a while, whats the best anti virus software nowadays? Any good laptop deals about? Only 2 I will consider are Acer or Sony _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| We found that AVG had conflicts with Outlook since they have taken over Hotmail, don't know what email you use Ken. We have now downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials (it is free from Microsoft). You get it as a Microsoft Update so long as you are a private user and not a company. Amazingly my Hotmail account is working again now - I wish my keyboard would | |

| Well, end of an era for me, just bought a laptop and returning to windoze I'll give it a whirl and see what its like, made sure the lappy I bought though will run ok with Linux See Microsoft have stopped issuing the OS refunds though now and refer you back to the laptop manufacturer. Just had a good read up of windows 8 and things have totally changed from my XP days, seems more like an android system now than the old windoze so things might work out OK Ubuntu install downloaded and put on disk already though _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| WOW, things have changed with Windoze 8, like learning from scratch, if you don't like change then don't upgrade to it. I haven't decided yet, some things I like, some things I don't and some things I can't find yet But - the Linux disc hasn't been used yet _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I'm getting used to it a bit now I have found my way about, easy web browsing with the touch pad using the gestures once you know what they are, finger ends feel like they are wearing away though _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Well after few days playing about with Windows 8 i have come to the conclusion that I quite like It 1 thing that used to really pee me off with Windows was that message "windows needs to restart" after you changed the slightest thing, spent half my life restarting the damn thing! Anyway, I'm glad to say that I have only seen it once in the last couple of days even after the changes and programs I have installed. My pet hate with 8 though is having no close button on the apps, you have to put the curser to the top then drag it to the bottom of the screen, Alt+F4 does the job nicely though instead _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| They say you leave the apps open and they take no resourses, then there're ready if you want to use them again.. I like it better than W7, now I've got used to it .. | |
