this is the ice compartment door /flap small plastic hing only thing i can think about is we wedge it open when not in use this may puy pressure on it at 10 pounds each

And then close the fridge door? Maybe that is putting pressure on it

Mick we used to leave our freezer compartment door open and then the fridge door open in our caravan when we had it. The caravan lasted 8 years and we never replacedd the hinges on any of it. Mind you the freezer compartment door opened from left to right, not top to bottom that perhaps yours does.

When we used to have one of those type fridges ,when not in used I used to keep it open with a small bit of sponge , so it was just opened enough to vent it ,but if the fridge door was accidentally closed it didnt hit the flap
