| As the title suggests..How do we all get to Spain..Is it??
The long Drive across France
OR
The boat to Santander/Bilbao
I personally prefer the drive across France..the travel may seem a long way but BOY do you get to see France..We don't bother with the Peage..we use the N Routes as I think they are as good as if not better than the Peage..and you get to see a bit of France..plus you don't have to mess about coming off the peage to find an Aires.. The last time we did the "Run To The Sun" for the winter into Spain it cost us 11 euros 60 cents for 3 overnight stops on Aires..that added to the cost of diesel made it cheaper to drive across France..Gets my vote every time.. | |

| I prefer to drive through France, although we have been there lots of times, there is always something new to see or a different aire to stop on | |

| Quite agree mondo, although we have done both routes many times and now with a 8.7mt x 5000kg motorhome doing 20mpg I did give some serious looking at the ferry again for our trip with 3 others to Spain in April 2013.
Ferry one way £397 (always drive back) plus £200 fuel from ferry to Crevilente
Driving 1500 miles avoiding tolls as much as possible £450 + extras for overnighting, so driving there and back this time, I love the driving bit and intend going the Col de Portalet this time as we went the Col de Somport last year.

| Going by Portsmouth/Bilbao on way down as want to go to La Pinguinos rally on way down and consequently don't have time to amble. (£334) If anyone is going this way on 8th Jan, let us know and we can maybe have a beer & a chat on the boat. Coming back Calais/Dover-got a belting deal at NEC-£29 for 7m van & trailer. Thinking of having a few days at Peniscola on return route as have found a camperpark at €6 pn at La Volta-anybody used this place? Mike | |
