| it might make a intresting discussion,to list your favourite food/foods,it might be one thas is only known locally or foreign or a family favourite handed down the generations.maybe you can even let us know how its cooked/prepared .you can list as many as you like, but would help with a little description or recipe.i will start the ball rolling. SALTFISH=this is salted cod,you can get this from any good fishmonger. TO COOK=wash the fish under running cold water until all the grains of salt have gone. then place the fish in a pot of cold water, leave it for at least 12 hours upto 24 hrs, then rinse the fish under cold running water. place the fish in a cooking pot and cover with cold water, bring it to the boil then turn the heat off and leave the fish in for a further 5 mins.drain and serve with a knob of butter and fresh bread.and a little white pepper. SPAIN/PORTUGAL if you are in a restraunt in spain/portugal this will be on the menu as BACHALAU,portugal has 365 different recipes for bachalau.and is sold in nearly every shop. the saltfish is sold in different grades, normally the more expensive the cut the tastier it will be,and some are sold with the bone on.but dont worry when its cooked the bone will be very easy to pull out.its normally available in lidl/aldi. | |
