| Hia Don't all run for the hills just listen to what I am going to say ,then run for the hills:R0fl: Went into van earlier and thought I might as well run the van engine, you know just for the fun of it. Well no lights come on and I sat there and looked at it and thought woops So battery I presume is flat as a pancake. So I thought I wonder if the leisure batteries are flat.. I noticed the switch that can be in the middle or up for leisure and down for van and it was on the down so van battery. So I thought as it drained these batteries as well so I went and switched of the eleccy and no leisure batteries ok. So besides the battery probably not like standing doing nothing could it be because the switch was on the vechile could that have helped to drain it, I replaced the engine battery the first winter I had it so it is 6years old. It that old for a battery Oh well will have to try out my new battery charger Just going to a funeral then will read the instructions might as well learn how to do it, then it will be another feather in my bow | |

| Have you confirmed that all the batteries are dead or is it just the van one?. 6 years for a battery is quite an age you may have a dead cell, if you can, take battery off & take it to your local battery place & have it checked... | |

Dead as a dodo
If I get some charge in it and back on the van then go to the local tyre, exaust and battery place (select a tyre) and have it tested ,how will I know they are not just after a sale

| Polly if you are not in a big rush to use the van when you have had the other charger on for a short while put your new charger on and see if it goes to fully charged state in an odd day or so.
If it does then see if it holds its charge for you, if your new charger never shows fully charged then rest assured it is dead.
some garages are straight but I share your concern re trying to make a sale

| Not looking good for that battery Polly, it's unusual for them to go so flat unless you left something on that drained it, ifyou did then they can be recovered sometimes, if the charger won't charge it, you might need to get another battery, connect them together with jump leads and charge them together for a while, once there is some charge in you can remove the second battery. done this a few times and recovered some, if you didn't leave anything on that drained it I think it's dead, but get it tested, do you have an Halfords near you, they do a free test _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Shop around Polly I always found Halfords to be top dollar for batteries. £70 seems nearer the mark | |

Need to sort it if I want to be off on Tuesday
Just checked and the dead battery I bought was from selecta true for £70.50 on 11/10/2007 It was a 096s 4Y GTE Platinum
So I am going to Smyths toy shop at Oldham so hopefully this will take my mind off it for a few hours
