I have used one when doing my dog sitting duties. First time it attacked me when I disconnected it and I got wet through But I learnt by my mistake Doesn't mean to say it wouldn't happen again

very very easy .connect the hose to the tap firmly unwind the hose slowly until you reach your filler hole put it in the hole and turn on the tap, when it starts overflowing turn the tap off. now very slowly start winding it up. remember very slowly.when its all wound up give it a good shake.and bingo its all done. anymore things you get stuck with, give us a shout.

We have one of them that Mark linked to, very handy, easy to store, had no problems winding ours in but what does concern me with it is not being able to get all the water out, and if it does freeze and split I can't see you being able to repair them. It's the hose you meant Polly one of them that expands about 3 times it's size when you put water in it? I like the idea of them

Yes and after seeing the one Baza had I as well as Frank also got one and it is good as you don't have to unroll the think to use it, but like Ken I do not like being able to get all the water out of it when winding back up and always worried that it's in the locker and might leak or freeze and burst.
I also have one of these as well and prefer this one but you do have to unroll it all the way, and it's a little heavy. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I also have another roll type one (think I may have to many) smaller and lighter that the other two and usually use that one, believe or not I also have another one, its just a short 3mt length that I use if the tap is on the pitch and very close. (deffo got too many hoses)

I always carry a short hose to save having to unwind the cassette if close to tap.

Well Polly, have you tried the "retractable snake type hose" yet? I have and the're great, wish I'd have bought the bigger one now though, 1st time I tried it was at the Xmas meet, just let it do its own thing but it wan not 50 feet as they said it was, then i read the instructions On 1st use, let the water pressure fill it, then stretch it by hand to get the creases out and it will grow to its full length (god, this sounds bad ) I did this and everything was OK, let the pressure go and it all shrivels up, tried it again - works well Easy to get all the water out and all packs down to roughly the size of a bag of sugar so easy to store. Not tried it in a low pressure area, they might not work the same as it does rely on pressure to expand it
These are the hoses - but I think we bought copies as they were only a third of the price they usually are, and ours are green

For all those asking about the expandable hose, here is a link to them - Click HERE But keep them away from your dog, Max decided to chew on my 75 foot one luckily he chewed near the middle so I now have one about 40 foot and another about 35 foot but need some fittings that I haven't been able to find yet, might just peice it together if I don't find any

Been using mine now for the last 3 weeks & recommend it, I think I might invest in a longer one as well they are a doddle to use but it's worth getting a twist nozzle for the mh end.
