| Had to get a puncher sorted out today on motor home, as usual nothing is that easy. Rang local tyre fitter about 200 yards down the road explained it was a 4.6t with twin rear wheels & that it was the inside one which was punchered he said yep no problem. so off I went making sure everything was secure in the van, when I got there said no cant do it...fu@*#$ I said, went back home. It took 5 phone calls to 5 different tyre places to get one to do it. When I got there had to wait for an hour, it only took them 15 minutes to do the job using a trolley jack & axle stand. Cost £15 + vat. Moral of the story is they dont want the work for 15 quid if I had wanted tyres I recon they would have all offered to fit them!!!. | |

| Mmm I think it all comes down to profit Mark and there probably isn't any profit in repairing a puncture.
Glad your sorted now and your experience has given us all something to think about.

| Yes Cheryl, I know who I will be using next time "Tyreland" not sure if they are only local to me or if they have branches across the UK | |

| I have been advised it is better to use smaller tyre fitter companies rather than the big nationals, when I phoned "Quickfit" who I will never phone again as this is the 3rd time they have disappointed, they said we only have 3 tonne jacks so obviously they dont touch anything remotely commercial. | |

| Nice one Mark.
Will need 4 tyres when we get back from the sun so will be wary of the big nationals. Providing no punctures are picked up on the way that is !

| You should have told them Mark that a 3 ton Jack will lift any corner of your van just to see what answer they come up with _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

Providing no punctures are picked up on the way that is ! If you will need a full set of tyres when you return to the UK after your winter trip why not have them done in France before you return. I had 4 rear tyres fitted in Angouleme last year and they were 25% cheaper than the UK prices I had searched for so effectively 1 tyre was free

| I had a rear inner tyre blow out on my merc 4.6 t mirage (2 vans ago). Rang the breakdown folks (brittania rescue), they arrived and changed the wheel for me.

Allen.
There is only about half an inch clearance between the tyres at the back so it is essential to keep the pressures up at all times, because if they come contact whilst on the move this can cause a blow out.
