I was in ambleside last year and there was a guy there with a model aircraft, looked really nice, was all lit up with blue and red led's, watched it flying about for about 15 mins, then he brought it down, slowed it down and just put his hand up and got hold of it, made it look easy

You're about early Ken? I see the site was down for maintenance and I lost my post about half an hour ago so here we are again. I used to work with a chap (in another lifetime) who often described his day out with model aircraft as "a Gateway bag day", the mode of transport to get his plane back home after a crash landing.

I used to race model/rc off road buggies for a few years until I couldn't afford to keep up with competition. I still own 1 with loads of spares which I rag around sometimes.

Very nice too, my oldest son is a bit of an enthusiast of RC cars, passed it on to his own son by the look of his bedroom, full of RC stuff, mostly in bits, well you know what 10 year old's are like "let's see how it works" type of mentality. My son has had some awesome machines, one he has in one of MY bedrooms is pictured below. Buy, pull it apart, spend a fortune on new parts so everything is the same colour, spray it, fit new stickers, park it in MY bedroom and forget it??? This is the before picture. This is the after picture not quite completed. Just wondering if I can put this on E bay without him noticing, if he noticed could I blame his mother, hmmmm, worth thinking about.

The Corvette is a "Revell" static plastic display kit converted to RC, The Puffer is a GRP Hull both about 34" long. The Cap is 72" span powered by a 25cc IC engine. The last picture will be a few planes in the garden. The models I usually take away are small 36" span free flight models electric power with radio assist. The Elephant is a long story but was made as a joke for my son in law AKA ( there is an Elephant in the room) About 30" high and much to my surprise now stands in their lounge.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I think we have at least one if not two RC cars here, left by our Sons when they left home. Perhaps there should be a rally for all you 'boys' and Polly to have a race day

Yes I've had a play with helicopters. I still have one residing in the corner, but needs a lot of work doing on it. It is a scale model of a BO 105. I bought the fuselage damaged and have repaired it, but I now need t spray it. Not sure when it will get done though. They are also very hard to fly, and when you crash, the £ sign starts spinning!

Well I've started Just got myself a little quadcopter with video camera in it so please make sure your van roofs are clean on all meets Just started with a small one, if I get the hang of it I might upgrade to a bigger better model, this video made my mind up about getting one, not sure I will ever get one thats capable of reaching these distances though

Just reading these topics Our George always wanted a petrol car for using when at the motox tracks when racing had finished. We decided his dad had enough to sort out without the added bonus of George and a remote controll car
I love watching them and on our local lake there is a boating club so good to watch there
The other year my brother bought me a hellecopter for Christmas ( yes I know it runs in our family) Well it's not a dear one but I was really pleased with it till it keeps crashing due to lopsided blades don't know what to do Maybe buy another one?

Polly, Other than "Free Flight " model aircraft Helicopters used to be just about the most difficult sphere of RC aircraft to master once quoted as " Trying to balance a boiled egg on a pin whilst scratching your ear" ( the originator didn't say Ear :-) ). Now with dual rotors its quite easy and the latest development of quads even easier all you need is money and not excessive amounts of that. Quad with GPS is I believe about £300 or as a toy about £50 from Amazon. Takes off from your feet and with the press of a button returns there.
