Its definitely cheaper to holiday in France if you are thinking of going for a few weeks at a time & nowhere near as stressful whilst travelling from place to place.
I also think that some uk campsites have far too many separate charges as you show in the post Ken, surely it would be more straightforward if you just pay for your pitch including all extras apart from electric which I dont have a problem paying extra for...

It certainly begins to look that way especially when you can often get a travel lodge for £25.00 per night, I guess it is to do with supply and demand though as they are so often full especially at weekends. Try the Camping and Caravan club temporary holiday sites as an alternative. We did last year and found them brilliant and better located than many club sites

They are all listed in the monthly magazine, operated by club volunteers and are about £5 to £7 a night on private owned sites. Rarely any electric but water and rubbish points, most will permit gennies for certain periods with discretion

Agree sites are becoming very expensive.

I use CC&C weekend sites and THS but their prices are rising - some up to £10 and no electric.

All I need is somewhere safe to sleep, water and elsan point.  Suspect
