No idea what caused tyre to explode but was a Michelin camping plenty of tread and about 4 years old . A piece of outer tread came off the tyre smashing the outer wheel arch. Thought someone had collided with my rear when it happened Now replaced with another Michelin as couldn't find a Continental ! And needed spare as was on way to ferry! Van was much lighter than last week when I had scooter and event shelter on board

Was it Agilis or XC as XC were still in production then.

I would buy another Agilis for that axle and put the old XC to spare when you have opportunity. Agilis is M+S (mud and snow) and has a faster wear rate than the old XC

Yes perhaps a bit cheaper than the one I had to get quickly!!! Still brand new XC as spare!

I've had a full set of agilis on for 3 years now they seem fine to me & 4700kg, I just think the older the tyres get the weeker the structure is & these things can happen, some say they need replacing between 4 & 5 years old but sods law can be upon you when its unfortunately your turn. See you monday Pete.

Some of the worst roads/motorways in Europe, hate driving through Belgium.
