Diesel filter leak on Fial

The couple that travelled down with us have a five year old 2.3 Fiat and only just made it here.
It developed what is an apparent common fault with some models where the seal on the plastic filter housing begins to leak. At first it was a tiny leak only apparent when he stopped but by the time he got here he has laid a trail on the road.

The filter is real easy to remove from the van but getting the top off without a special tool is nigh on impossible without causing damage. Two local Fiat garages have so far been useless and it is now time to seek out a nice friendly independent garage to do the simple job.

If your van has the plastic filter housing then keep an eye on it.
