We've just returned from an excellent few days away in the motorhome at Shell island, nr. Harlech, N. Wales.
We counted just 6 motor homes and 3 tents in all the 300 acres available for camping (By the sea, in the dunes, fields or the woods)....We payed £12.50 per night (Two people and one dog). No electric, but everything else you could possibly need is on site, yet quietly tucked away at the entrance.
We've been several times to this unique, camp where you want site, but this time was the best yet. Good, warm weather and hardly any punters!
The icing on the cake was the drive home via Beddgelert, Capel Curig, Betws-y-Coed and Llangollen.....superb, sunny autumn tints all the way!
For those who have not been to Shell Island before, a word of warning...Avoid July and August!
Now let's see. Water tank cleaned and re-filled, gas bottles checked...Where's that camping book? Now winter is approaching, the sites that remain open are virtually empty...and a bit cheaper too. Can't wait to get out of the van and make a snowman!
Cheers all.....
