Subject: RENEWING MY DRIVING LICENCE AT 70 Thu 7 May 2020 - 15:02
Hia Hope your all ok
I have been trying to renew my driving licence seeing I am 70 in 87 days, so I fall in applying upto 90days. Filling it in on line but not recognising me. Tried it different way without capitals with capitals etc Wondered if it's the Corronavirus Can't send an email due to skeleton staff. Sorting out HGV and Key workers
Is this a normal thing
Might have to try in a couple of weeks

It's free, so make sure you go on the official .gov site for over 70 renewal. Have you filled in ALL the boxes (7) ?
Tip ... write your details as they're written on your driving licence.

Managed to get through on the phone. Lovely lady I have to wait for my form. That should arrive in the next few weeks. Also online it asked for postcode or manual address. I put in the postcode and the address showed up. But on my licence there is no postcode So hopefully all will be sorted soon

A friend told me her hubby had got a D! from the post office. I phoned the licencing office number I had.and got a nice gentalman saying they are way behind. I asked about the form from the post office. he said oh yes. I said well why didn't she tell me that I could have had it done by now. I thanked him and went of to the post office. I have a spare form if anyone wants one

Hi I tried the online a year ago but ended up getting the forms from the post office...you will also need a medical.... I contacted my own Doctor who wanted £250..!!!.with a 2 month wait for an appointment what !! but I was told to look online as there many companies who set up Doctors doing week end work at a lot less.. mine was a hospital doctor working on a sunday morning from home in the next town £55 .. plus the doctor said if you had contacted me direct and gave me his card he would have done the exam for £50...cutting out the middle man... All the best Mel here is one I have just found but there are others .. Don't know about car licence medicals as I have to obtain a medical for HGV/PCV licence but DVLA will not accept medical forms from anyone but a Drs. surgery.
Renewing my licences at the beginning of this month has been a nightmare.
With my HGV/PCV renewal forms from DVLA was a letter saying I didn't need to have a medical under the Covid19 virus circumstances.
So I duly sent off my licence but thank goodness kept a copy. When the licence came back I had been demoted to driving a 7.5t pulling a small trailer. Those that know me will be aware I can and have driven 8 wheeled rigids pulling artics about the country. I wasn't pleased and my licence has gone back, by recorded delivery, with a stern letter containing my mobile number.
The thing that really annoys me I had grandfather rights to drive a 7.5t vehicle before I took HGV/PCV driving tests so I was in a way worse off.

They will, it's just one company they won't deal with anymore, it's called doctors on wheels

I had trouble last year, I used D4Drivers, £50. I had to go for a treadmill test, when the doctor asked me what I was driving I told him a motorhome, he said your form says a HGV. No need for this test, but as you are here we will do it. No probs. Licence was only issued for one year. My Doctor charges £150 but next time I will pay that, as he knows my medical records.

Agree about using own Dr. Choccy boy. When Dr. carries out medical if any issues are found they can be dealt with promptly.

Hia Yes didn’t take long , I was impressed how quick under the circumstances Got the form from the post office I should have done that in the first place instead of waiting on them to send the forms out
