| Hi,
I have purchased quiet a lot of items from ebay but never tried to sell anything, but I decided last night I have enough stuff I don't use, so I thought I would give it go, but the information that they seem to throw at you when you start is a bit off-putting and I'm not sure, that if I'm not careful I could end up paying Ebay more or nearly all that I get for the item.
I didn't go ahead with placing the item until I understood the system a bit better, apparently I have a free listing available to me ? not sure if that makes much difference, how can I protect myself from having to perhaps pay ebay more or nearly all of what I get ? and what happens if I don't get anyone to purchase, the items I am thinking of putting on are only low value under £10 or less.
Any advice would be welcome,

| Good clear photographs help to sell items but be careful, Ebay charge you for photo's, you get a few free (cant remember how many now, long while since I sold on there) then you have to pay, but you can host them anywhere and use html to link to them, just like you would putting a photo in here. They have a selling fee, all depends on how much you list it for, cheapest option it so set the auction off at 99p or less with no reserve price (you pay to have a reserve on it) You also pay a fee when it is sold, about 1 or 2% If I remember right. Don't be greedy on the postage charge, a lot of sellers charge silly amounts and buyers don't like it. Hope this helps _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Thanks for the advice, I went part the way through placing the advert and it appeared for some reason, perhaps because I purchase quite regularly they offer me (and probably millions of others LoL) Free insertion plus 1 photo free.
However I stopped when they wanted me to agree to pay via my PayPal account, and I couldn't work out how much it mite cost, that was when I stopped as to an idiot like me I just couldn't see clearly what/how much I was committing myself to and I had this awful feeling that I may only get offered £1 or £2 and they would want £5 or £6 and I would have already agreed ?
If no one bids do you still have to pay Ebay ?
Thanks again for your help | |

| Yeah, you will have to pay the listing fee even if it doesn't sell. This link will help you with the fees [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]_________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Just to throw my ore in and maybee sum up in simple terms, I have been buying & selling on ebay for about 10 years now.if you estimate around 20 - 25% of the total sale including paying your fee to paypal.EG item sells for £10 your postage is £5 you pay about £3 in total so after your postage costs you get £7 in your sky rocket? | |

| Hi,
Model Railway bits, I got my first Model Railway the Christmas Before last 2011, and only got around to putting it together just before this Christmas 2012,
Albeit during the year I had lots of ideas and purchased lots of bits before I had even got the main railway out of the box, and guess what I've got a lot of bits I don't need LoL
I'm 62 | |

| Hi, I like model railways more for the model village or settings that people come up with, some of them look so real with the buildings and the old cars etc, I know nothing about trains. Hope to go here this year if possible, anyone been ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |
