| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Hugh, the above is a very good guide for all the info you will need for a trip too Norway. We have only been once in the m/h (I have travelled there in the truck a couple of times) and we sailed into Kristiansand and headed for the Western Isle's Via Mandal, Stavanger, Haugesund, Bergen, Alesund, Molde, Trondhiem, Lofoten Isle and Tromso. We returned Via the E6 down the middle, we had a 7'5mt 3850kg m/h and it was quite expensive because of the size and weight, under 3500kg and 6.0mt is the best size for Norway as the tolls and ferries are very expensive for larger m/hs. The ferries are charged by the metre and over 6mts that cane you and they worked out about £1 per minute on the crossing, so if it was a 15 minute crossing it was £15, the most expensive one was across too Molde from Alesund which cost us £60. There are cameras on the unmanned toll roads and if you do not pay or pay the wrong rate they WILL pursue you through the courts. Take as much food you can possibly carry as meat and vegetables are expensive, if you like a tipple dump the food and take the booze, it is unbelievably expensive, I paid £16 for 6 can of lager and you can only but it in certain shops at certain times. Fuel was not to bad, and LPG was getting better, we filled our bottles in Bergen. Campsites can be a lot more than you pay in the UK but wild camping is very common, but you must ask permission if you are within sight of a house/farm. We loved it and intend returning someday, but not for a while as we now have a 5000kg 8.7mt m/h and that is a scary size for Norway ££££££ss The Atlantic road is absolutely stunning and well worth the trip, take a fishing rod as its free in the fiords but very expensive in the rivers, the whole country is beautiful and the people are extremely pleasant, it is also the safest country we have ever toured in, Morocco being the 2nd safest. Unfortunately I disposed all the info I had on Norway recently as it was out of date (we went in May 2006) which incidentally Late May through June is an excellent time to visit as most of the roads are free of snow, the mosquitos and midges have not yet appeared and best of all the tourist have not arrived in their thousands. Any thing else you need to know just ask and I will see if I can assist you, plan carefully and you will have a trip to remember forever. | |

| That looks a very interesting trip Bob. How long do you think a trip like that would take, on its own and not hurrying. | |

| Its too far for a couple of weeks Cheryl even if you sail for Harwich or Newcastle and if you drive you deffo need a good few weeks, best left until you can both enjoy the trip in a relaxed manner, it's so beautiful you will love it. | |

We are off to the Alsace Region of France for three weeks come June of this year. I am looking at where to go for next year, probably have 3 weeks again. Been to Holland a couple of times, but its a bit flat ha ha ha. Might think about Germany then, but I doubt 3 weeks will be enough for there either! | |
