| Hi I agree with a need to watch what's posted, but as for the fee/charge for membership it will certainly help stop unwanted people posting including me, I will watch the situation closely
I don't subscribe to any forums there are still quiet a few that are free if the committee decided to introduce a charge can they please unsubscribe me at the same time
thanks Brian |

| Paying an annual fee would not bother me as long as it was not to expensive , I pay for MHF because I consider it value for money for the mine of information available and the shear volume of subscribers to answer any queries I may have . If this forum being a lot smaller introduced a fee I think the membership would reduce dramatically ,to just the ones who regularly attend the rallies , having said all that I don't think the site would be any safer , the way to keep it safe is not to reveal too much sensitive information | |

| We will have a chat about it but as far as I am concerned its free and always will be, its the members forum, you can't charge someone to post on their own site. _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Security is the domain of moderators. If anything untoward is posted it is removed ASAP and surely IP addresses can be barred if need be. Any one can join MHFacts and make 5 posts for free. If they are out of line they're quickly removed by the management. Anyone can read MHFacts without joining at all. To read this forum you are forced to register? I think Mike should pay a fee | |

| I too agree, if you start charging new members especially it may put them off joining, as far as a lot of these disputes are concerned you choose whether to get involved in them or not! Unless maybee you are on the committee. Julie and I joined this site for the sole reason of meeting people who are interested in motorhoming and helping with any questions that people have and most importantly making some good friends | |

| I would add that IMHO having to register (as we do) before you can even view the site puts people off joining. So why would people pay a fee when they can't even see what they are joining in the first place? | |

| Thinking about it if somebody wanted to be deliberately disruptive then paying a small fee wouldn't put them off.
I think there are enough of us plus the committee that regularly come on the site that could soon sort any potential problems out.

| Any one who registers to be able to post has to agree to the terms and conditions. If they break them it is not our responsibility other than to remove any offending post as quick as we are aware of it and ban the offender. I cannot understand what you are worried about. | |

Mike I thought the reason we were sat in that hut at the Southport meet was to leave Roamers and come up with something that was run different, and in the words of Ken earlier in this thread I think we did . "We will have a chat about it but as far as I am concerned its free and always will be, its the members forum, you can't charge someone to post on their own site". So yes because of that we are different from other sites , I for one am not going to judge if that is right or wrong , but I do like it the way it is

| Mike, would you like to explain to the rest of us what the problem is and why you want us to change the whole concept of the site just when we thought we were doing so well ! | |

| Reason other sites pay isn't to do with security, they want to make money out of the forum and Motor-Homers isn't about that, yeah we need to make money for insurance Etc but we can do that on the rallies. As for security, the only secure site on the internet is one that doesn't exist Site is safe enough as long as members are careful with links etc like they should be on any site, if someone logged on and started posting links to virus's and the likes I am sure most members wouldn't click on them, a lot of you have my mobile number, at at any time, day or night you can contact me if you think it important, there is also a "report an abuse" link at the bottom of every page. Forumotion have quite a bit of security in their forums, like most spammers are set up electronically, there not people sat behind a computer doing it and they usually use the same name, forumotion blocks all the known usernames, I found this out when I was registering Adele on here, it wouldn't accept it, said username already taken, turned out that name is a known spammer and was blocked (wasn't my Adele though, she can barely use a PC!!) See this LINK Yeah we might get a user coming on and using abusive language or something, again, please report it by phone or the link and it will be removed quickly, I am on here most of the time and sometimes through the night' Pete is always on early morning, and Bob is always on during the day till late evening so nothing would be on here for long. At the worst, they could hack into the forum, we can't stop that, if they wanted to get in they would, I'm sure if they can get into Microsoft or the MOD they could get in here, if they did then they could delete the forum, don't worry, it is backed up every day and can be restored. Hope this helps _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| my aunty was like that, she would go int a supermarket, get four donuts,a half bottle of brandy.and cheese portions.she would continue to shop while eating the donuts and cheese and drinking the brandy.after about an hour or so,she would start putting the shopping back on the shelves, even the empty cheese box went back.the empty:Dbrandy bottle would be put in the donut box and left in the bin in the GENTS toilet not to arouse suspicion for her next visit. she never got caught but forgot where the supermarket was. she got dementia.maybe it was the brandy or the cheese or even the donuts.but she had a good innings 87 when she died.her name was adele.my loveley aunt adele rip. | |
