| Taken from the BBC website, comments on the article .... 82. Golden Bear 6 HOURS AGO I drive at 70mph on the motorways. I tend to stick to the middle lane as we have bigger vehicles on the left lane, and also slower vehicles. Sometimes, I have motorists coming right up my rear and flashing. Where do you want me to go at 70 mph? Slow down or speed up, then to the left? And then, since I follow the law and stay under 70, to the middle lane again? Why can't others follow the 70 limitand this guy thinks he's doing nothing wrong !! | |

| These rules make me laugh, how many people do you know who have seen a police car on the motorways let alone actually stop a motorist, they are just not there. Drive defensively, as usual guys. | |

Drive defensively, as usual guys. If you think they are 'just not there' then you obviously don't drive the M56. I drive the length of it every day (some days 3 or 4 times) and back again. On every journey I see at least one traffic car on the hard shoulder with a car they have pulled over. Then there are the unmarked cars, a black BMW, a silver BMW, a black Subaru and a black Audi. They are definitely 'there'. | |

| Hi Paul When Mum was alive I was using the A1(M) very regularly and I can honestly say, I never saw any Police, either marked or unmarked (they use black and silver BMWs here too). I saw plenty of tailgaters though. I would love them and mobile phone users to be prosecuted as I too get sick of them, especially when in my Smart car, they are even closer to me. | |

| i think the ploy of the police will be to be in an unmarked car{probaly with a police woman}and have a second car to stop the tailgaters.at a 100 pound fine for each one, i am sure they can earn the country some money.even better would be to get a close up photo of the tailgater.that way they dont even have to stop him/her,just send the photo evidence. | |
