We've just returned from our Scotland trio ...Leeds to Balloch stayed at Lomond Woods site as we have before. Rather expensive and found free camping in the roadside outside Duck Bay Marina hotel on the beautiful Lochside. We will use this in future especially now we have the solar sorted double battery and the new lightweight refillable gas bottles fitted....onto Invererie .....parked free all day in the spacious grounds if the castle .....walking into Invererie for the day and then drive to the beach in Oban had tea in the car park overlooking the beach stayed free till 8 so scenic ...the drive to Appen stayed wildcamping A large lay by set off the road overlooking mountains and Loch.onto Loch leven the next morning and Glencoe village. Drove up the mountains which are fantastic roads, super majestic views to Glencoe ski lift resort we had a cooked breaky in the van and checked their overnight stays for future reference. You can stay free and empty and refill all water including toilets. And shower for )1£ hook up is £10 pn and they have camping pods but beware of the midges. We drove to perth from here which was disappointing as we normally follow the Glasgow signs and return to Loch Lomond which we will do when we return in a few weeks. Free camping is fantastic in Scotland. You can get a train from Balloch to Glasgow central for £10 return pp. great shopping experience. We traveled led down the coastline of Norhumbria but didn't fancy our chances with free camping there... ( any tips welcomed as love Northumbria ) especially Bamburgh. Great weather and everyone in Scotland loved Bonnie with her new tartan collar lead and bow lol....hope this info helps... bounce

We stayed near the duck bay marina last time we were up there, couldn't get out of the van because of the midges though, shame really as it was a lovely spot

Love Scotland especially the west side where the midges are Smile
Found lavender in whatever form helps to keep the midges away.

The wild camping in Scotland is superb, and Its on my doorstep, so once I'm back on the road, I will be having one or two trips up there. Those Scottish midges are a pain though and I usually stay on the east side and my favourite bit is along the top.
