Spain and Portugal - any tips?

Hi Guys,

Well I'm heading for the ferry (Portsmouth - Santander) and will then commence my grand tour of Spain and Portugal, following the coast with a few detours inland.

If anyone has some "must see spots", advice on cheap/free places to stay or any other hints and tips then please let me know.

my tip is to get the ALL THE AIRES SPAIN AND PORTUGAL.

I agree the aires books as previously stated but your first stop needs to be Carberceno just below Santander it is free an just too good to miss. We have now moved on to Salamanca and only stayed on free aires for the last six nights

If you haven't got Camperstop I think you'll find that's an excellent aires guide (that's all countries and available from Vicarious books)

Which way are you hèading first Penny, are you going towards the "Med" or are you heading for "Portugal"??

We've done Spain & Portugal (coastline) and would say that it's best to use campsites in Spain with an ACSI card as the aires are not generally very good but in Portugal there are plenty of good aires along the Algarve and it isn't necessary to use campsites there.
