| Just a thought which could possibly boost rally attendance figures. We and I expect others, do quite like meeting other motorhomers, but we also like our own space. We are quite sociable, but are not into large gatherings, more one to one or two or three Maybe as we seem to have hearing problems when in large groups We and I suspect a few more would like to attend meets, but, don't want to join in everything For instance, we may like to eat in our own van, or might not want to join in games But this does not in any way say that we don't want to meet folks and enjoy each others company How do other feel does this sound stand offish I hope not as that is or was not the intention, I just wondered how this comes across to other members, as it is difficult to type and get the feeling across Just food for thought and as I am maybe a little out spoken, it might clear the way for others who may not like to ask | |

| One thing to consider though is the area where people gather, it's not really fair to all congregate around one members van as this makes it hard for them to call it a day or just do their own thing too. We don't always have the group tent but in the absence of it we really ought to set up tables away from any individuals van. | |

| Another good point Andy, and thanks for the welcome Maybe I am just a miserable old git not really a party animal but I do like to be sociable. I just wondered what people thought, obviously this could effect the number of meets we attend, and I expect it could influence others, who may be too polite to ask these sort of questions. | |

| I can assure you we (Jacs & I) don't always gather. I like my van and a quiet evening too. The more we meet the better you get to know others and some attract a gathering purely because they're fun to be with. I don't think anyone feels obliged. The venue of a meet can create very different activities but often a walk is involved at a nice leisurely talking pace. I've not encountered a meet I regretted yet. | |

| My personal opinion : If you dont ask questions you dont get answers and with out answers you stand a chance of upsetting some people, it as always seemed at our meets that people are free to participate if and when they want ,and no one gets upset . It is always welcome if those attending rallies do try to help with fund raising by taking some part in the raffles and other fund raising activities, | |

| Our club is always free and easy and each member has the right to spend their time as they wish, complete engagement or as little as you wish, the object is to be comfortable with each other.
As for fund raising we DO require your help keeping our heads above water as we do have bills to pay (forum cost, insurance ect.) and we could use another event shelter which we will have to purchase, so any contributions are always very welcome at meets and there is also a donation button if you wish to be anonymous.

So a free forum needs member financial support, (nothing wrong with that) and what I am saying is that some members, me included might be put off from attending meets, if we feel obliged to join in most events or we may feel guilty if we don't Not all members will attend meets, so the support will only come from meet attenders. In conclusion, maybe as I said above, some other, or additional way of collecting funds from meet attenders, who don't participate in the games etc. Just a newbies thoughts

| Always do your own thing, never feel like you have to join in with anything if you don't want too, we all like our own space at times. If you see a group sat out or in the tent feel free to join them. The forum is free to join but it does cost the club, its not a lot though, biggest cost is insurance which we do need to hold the rallies. Hope this helps _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Graham, it is free to join our club but we like all forums have costs and these need to be acquired one way or tuther, rally fees are one method but they alone do not generate enough to cover all the costs hence the need for raffles ect.
This should not deter anyone from attending a meet as everything is done voluntary and no one is obliged to contribute and no one has to do anything they do not wish too.

| Thanks all for the replies I think the subject about attending the tent activities has changed to financial issues, and I do understand that funds need to be raised as nothing is for nothing I and I expect everybody, has no objection to fund raising, me least of all as a new member and as having made donations to other sites | |

| I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at motor-homers. You have made me and Alan feel so welcome into the club.
We are new members and we do feel that we don't have to be involved with everything that is going on but if we do both of us are made to feel very welcome and included!!
It makes us feel so very comfortable knowing that if we need help you are all there for us and each other!! You should all be very proud of the type of club you have and involved with. Good luck with all future events. Jackie and Alan........jayr
I just love it, bring it on xx

Mike, I don't think that anybody including me, has said they don't like the clubs ways, they are very good, if not excellent! I just think that meet attendant figures could increase if (as it has been) pointed out that members are welcome to do their own thing! Just another perspective! edit maybe read the thread opening post again might help!

| Meet numbers are only dictated by individual circumstance. Some are retired and can go anywhere as and when they like Others have to work and their limited time off might not necessarily be spent at a meet in preference to time in France etc No one must feel obliged to attend just to make up the numbers it has to be what suits you and your life.
BTW please tell BOB there is no donation button ROFPML
