6. Southport, British Musical Fireworks Championship - 2nd to 6th October 2014

I have reserved space for us at the 2014 British  Musical Fireworks Championship, parking will be at the usual place - Southport pleasureland car park
Price to be confirmed but probably £10 per night, plus the usual £1  per person rally fee
dates booked are 2nd to 5th October, leave site on the 6th October

Thought it was £12 pn last year.

If Norman is not careful he will out price himself on Pleasure Land as people will not pay what he is asking for staying on a car park with lets face it poor facilities, and lets not forget the camping keeps that car park going out of season.

I am not against him making a profit as he is running a business but profiteering is something else.

Barbara was telling me that at the Airshow RVs where turning up with Cars on trailers and still expecting the same charge as a single unit when they are using the space of 4/5 cars, cannot blame Norman for the extra charges in some cases.

Agree Bob - have been waiting for the actual camping price. If it becomes excessive I will take my trade elsewhere, even though I enjoyed the fireworks last year.

Got to agree but I also think some of the bigger vans should pay more, them RVs take 3 car spaces up, yet John was going to bring his trailer with mobility scooter on, total length would be no longer than our longest van yet they wanted an extra £7, space wise he would take less room than a car and caravan

Ken if John is charged more for his disability scooter on a trailer isn't it classed as (can't think of word) against disabled.

We're thinking of attending, but we're in Tewkesbury till Friday, possibly a mad rush up the M6.

Barbara will collect payment from each van on arrival so please go to reception when you arrive

I would imagine that if you turn up in a motorhome for the day (with no overnight parking booked) you will be charged for the space of two cars, Ken will put me right if I am incorrect.

From Barbara, apparently we should have only had 10 spaces but when I originally booked it I got told 10 for air show but no limit for fireworks as it's not as busy. Said there allocation is full and closed bookings a while back

You could be right there Bob but not certain, heard they were charging £20 for a days parking for the air show, no overnight parking for those not booked on

Those of you coming to Southport on Friday the roads start closing at 4.30PM fo the start of the fireworks. When booking in make sure you ask to park with Motorhomers. We are in the corner opposite reception and Barbara's RV.

is this behind the lifeboat station?

As you come through the Pleasureland car park gate Motorhomers are to the left in the far corner. John from Pleasureland will bring you up and park you once you have paid at reception.

Are you down past the lifeboat station joyce or right down the bottom of the car park to the left .

Fireworks were brilliant yet again and they seemed to throw everything Into the endings

Our Claire and kiddys enjoyed it on Saturday night.

Home now and Barb relaxing (well on FB if you that relaxing) took van back to Marquis and they were not the slightest interested in the faults stating they are down to Elddis to sort out but the mover is going on today and they will sort out the battery charging problem, also fix a couple of small niggles.

We will collect it Wednesday and then go to a site and spend a few days alone getting accustomed to the van and see everything works as it should, also give Barb a chance to fully recover.

Thanks to Pete, Mick and Phil for their assistance Friday night, would had had a bad time if not for the three Popeyes   Thanks to Ken for his assistance with the solar panel and to Pete again for his help with the caravan setup and hookup on a wet and cold Monday morning, it was an extremely stressful weekend and Barb suffered the most but we will get there together, and see you at Xmas meet.

I've never had much success with firework photos, usually end up with a load of coloured dots, experimented this weekend with different shutter speeds, some good results, also got a lot of s&%!*

Lovely to see old Homers and new members. Pity about Pleasurelands hospitality!! However they couldnt spoil the fireworks. Thought the last displays Saturday and Sunday night were very good.

Hope Barbara and Di soon feel better. Bob and Barbara will certainly remember their first outing in their new caravan.

This not able to drive long distances is good. I made it to Clitheroe and just had to pull up on a site to rest in the sun.

Competitors battled it out for the prestigious title over three nights, with SMART Pyrotechnics being announced as the overall winners by the 5 judges - they were the second display on Saturday evening.
