New MH site in Portugal 9km from Albufeira

I would like to inform members here that there is a new Motorhome site open in Portugal. The new owners are known to a few here ( Me & Chris ), their names are Pedro & Mireille and I think he is a really nice chap always ready to help if he can.

We are going to stay from late December until end of January, so will post out findings here with some photo's, if we don't get beaten by another member here.


Not sure of prices yet, but no doubt it will be a good rate and he has a car service to and from his site.

looking on google earth (terribly out of date) think it may be this place (could be wrong) but obviously greatly updated and looks like a piece of heaven in a world of madness. We will deffo be looking in on our winter trip to Portugal.

OK after more research it could be this place, but I am sure Don will fill us all in when he gets down there, wish we were getting away sooner rather than later.   

Looking again at Google maps heading south you leave the M/w @ J14 then follow the route which takes you under this bridge but it doesn't show the height

Knowing Big Pedro who owns this aire then expect the best stop over that you will ever experience.

He was running an aire for some one else at Guia last year and we had ten brilliant days with them------absolute magic, we will try to get to his new aire after Christmas

Strange thing is that I cannot find a way into the site avoiding that tunnel so I do hope it is over 3mts high (and a bit)

I will try to ask Pedro later to see what he says about the tunnel

Not got a reply from Pedro yet but some one that is there says the bridge on Google Earth is deceptive and he was concerned but lots of clearance for motorhomes.

Further info when Pedro goes out with his tape measure

Sounds like a goer for us then, cannot wait to get down there in the     , keep polishing your balls Alan (sorry meant Boules  ) 

Just had an email back from Pedro,the picture of the bridge is an illusion he says as he has had TIR trucks up to his place.

What is the price for a night  ?

We think we heard it was 8 euros per night including leccy and wifi but cannot confirm this at present

The bridge under the motorway is no problem, but after it the road is narrow and overhanging branches, it's navigable with care.
If you decide you can't get your motorhome in the gate, carry on along the road for 200 metres and there is room to turn around...

Those steps look a bit dangerous for my Barbara ( she is not good with steps) so is there another way down to the showers/toilet block

Bom conselho, we always use the "when in Rome" ect. when talking to our hosts  

The steps are up to "the shower" which is in the bath in "the bathroom" which has "the toilet" in it, you have to be careful coming back down the steps.
You can walk the long way round up the hill, thus avoiding the steps if necessary.   . Plenty of long hoses about to fill the van tank, then shower in the van would be better for Barb.

We called in at this site Christmas day just to have a look, much too crowded we thought, he tries to split the electric between vans as he his trying to get too many vans on the site,the tunnel is no problem for even large vans, the site is bright and sunny, long way from anywhere unless you use his car or take the van out, good facilities in the house, showers etc and a large room for socials , Christmas day they were seating 40 people for a meal, very pleasant family , We prefer to wildcamp at Paderne which is about 3 miles away, I wouldn't stay on this site each to there own though.
