| Anyone going to watch the Tour de France apart from on TV We are going tomorrow afternoon to North Stainley near Ripon so it will be late on Saturday afternoon when the cyclists pass on the way to Harrogate but will pass the time away with BBQ and a few beers. | |

| We have been to 3 TDFs all in the Cols of France and we have to spend a week there before the race passes through if you want a good view of them coming up the Col and it is very hard work. One thing that makes my blood boil is that it France its all entirely free (well almost all) you can park up practically anywhere there is an empty space, here in the UK they are charging extortionate prices just to park in a field with no facilities, we have heard of prices in excess of £50 p.n. for prime camping with good views, shame on you UK. | |

| Going into centre of Huddersfield to watch it on BIG screen on Saturday. Meeting up with all family and friends and expect many pints to be consumed ! Sunday we are riding from home to top of Ripponden Bank - long steep hill between Ripponden and Greetland where there is also a pub. should be quite a weekend, so keep fingers crossed for good weather. | |

| There are a lot of places overcharging, yes some £50 a night and you have to book minimum 2 nights, We are in a field opposite a pub and paid £15 from 11 am Friday to Sunday so there are some reasonable places, just up the road is Light water Valley theme park and they are charging £100 for two nights plus £10 a night for hookup, you would be lucky to use that in a week. | |

| North Yorkshire County Council have signs up all along the route of the race stating any vehicles parked will be towed away. The Council want everybody to go into Hubs. Have you seen the boulders/stones that have been placed roadside by the Council, on the television. That is prevent any parking along the route. In Masham small jumpers had been knitted and strung between lamp posts as bunting. The Council have removed them because they might make the lamp posts bend over But the Council string Christmas lights from the same lamp posts throughout North Yorkshire. As to camp site prices there is a report that one site is charging £250 for the two nights. That is without ehu. | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The above is a report of a cycle accident on one of the remote parts of the route known as Buttertubs Pass near Hawes. Hope the race cyclists don't take a similar tumble. It is a very long way down over the crash barrier. I won't drive over there at night or in bad weather. | |

Thats why I am not going, even though I was a keen club cyclist (until my accident) I would rather spend the money on a ferry crossing and see it in France | |
