Venue for 2019 Xmas meet

We only had 3 suggestions
1 of them didn't reply to my emails so it's just between
Shrewsbury showground and Dale Hey Ribchester.
All have hard standing, EHU and a function room

Kenjust another suggestion for Xmas meet  or another time meet, we stayed at the Doncaster air museum the other week it has a room they let you use. We didn't have electric but they said it could be made available  There is a brewers Farye pub within walking distance that do nice  food and cinema  bowling  ally plus behind the museum  a beautiful lake to walk the dogs half way round the lake (about 1mile)  is  the lakeside retail park loads of shop and M&S outlet shop.  I will be meeting up with the group this weekend I can get all the contact numbers if interested.  It may get be a good place for Xmas shopping???  Or another meet for another time.

Agreed Polly, we loved it up there but that barn would cost a fortune to heat in the winter.

You will  need 20 vans for each night to get the use of the heated  room for your duration of stay  at Shrewsbury.   Not many places where you get a room thrown in for the  cost of the camping.  Maybe a village/community  hall?

£12 per night NO EHU
£17 with EHU
We need 25 vans to get the room free of charge
If less than 25 vans, they charge £45 per night for the room.

Pencilled in for 7th to 11th Nov (4 nights)

Thoughts please.

Personally I can't see us getting 25 vans attending, get the room for just 2 or 3 nights? Raise money through raffle, bingo, roll for bottle etc

Find alternative venue? But we'll need to be quick.

Is Dale Hey cheaper at £10 and possibly a gas bottle per night?

over 4 nights dale hey is 28 pound cheaper per van.

if each van pays 5pound towards the gas,we will have enough gas to last us.

and it will be 23 pound cheaper for the meet per van?

9 names down so nowhere near enough to get the room free, I know numbers might go up and they usually do nearer the time but we are a long way off this one


Find an alternative venue?
Book Shrewsbury but will have to raise money for room?
Just get room for a couple of nights?

Ken I know this may go against the grain but how about Whittingham club again, cheap beer in warm room, EHU, and two local pubs.

Ribchester, nice cheap venue but in the middle of November that room is going to take a lot of heating and I don’t fancy being froze to death.

Shrewsbury, nice town, nice room but doesn’t look like we will get the numbers to have the room free,
I don’t mind stumping up a bit more money but as you are well aware everyone has to agree to that and that rarely happens.

Kate, (Ambilkate) did come up with a suggestion of the Air Museum in Doncaster but I don’t know if she managed to find out who to contact at the venue.

Good afternoon ken.

Yes we do hire the museum to caravan and camping groups.

The costs are £9.50 per pitch. We have electric hook up for 14 pitches at an additionl £2.50 per night per pitch.

We can accomodate upto 25 pitches and a minimum of 10. If you have less than 10 pitches, we charge £100 per night.

There is a room available for evening gatherings. The costs for the room are £12 per hour but we can come to an arrangement, if you prefer to make a donation for multiple use of the room.

We have waste and fresh water facilities, a shower and toilets.

The museum is free to enter during your stay during opening hours.

We can accomodate a few vans/motorhomes on hard standing but it is mainly grass.

If you would like to check our facilities, please call in for a chat.

I have the first 2 weekends in November avavilable, at the moent.

Doncaster sounds good. We would pay £17 with EHU. at Shrewsbuury. Air museum £12. Can't see it being over the top paying £16 per night to cover some room hours. If you can drink your own booze it's a bargain.

the room is 12 pound an hour average use about 5 hours a night=60 pound a night

10 vans 6 pound per van.

i will go with the flow,but we need it sorting asap 

Have room for 2 nights, Christmas meal out as usual and a night at the operator or whatever floats ya boat. I have been told there is plenty to do within easy walking distance.

As Tessajoe as commented this needs to be sorted soon. Xmas stuff will be soon in the shops.

If the above is the Doncaster Air Museum I can recommend it. We went in September last year. The Doncaster Lakeside shopping outlet is about 1 mile walk round the lake. We went on a meet with CCC and there were about 20 + units. The room is situated at the far end of an old barracks hut to give an idea of size.

That's how I read it Polly, so if only 8 turned up, you'd pay £100 so that's £12.50 per vehicle ( without EHU)
