Hia

I went through this the other month should I or shouldn't I

even had the survey and got to having the chap coming round and a date for the fixing ----would have been on by now if I had said yes

then I decided no

the reason

well only saving about £100 p/year so about £2500 for 25years
only me in the house so probably not save that much

so I couldnot justify having them on my roof to save me £2500

what happens to the company will they last for 25 years? will the solar panels last 25 years

A Shade greener was the company and they were not pushy at all even when I cancelled not heard from them
they were very helpful with my questions and I had questions

My neighbour is having them and I have noticed plenty going on roofs

so it was a personel reason I don't feel I would benifit

but you may be different

as for the footprint sorry i was not to interested in that side

oh and I have just had a new roof and when they said they would have to take a couple/few tiles off ---no I have just paid to have them put on ha ha

Hi, There no doubt that both types work, however the main and first question in my mind is how long do you intend to stay in your house, as everything appears to me to stem from that, as all of the systems have a relatively long term pay back/gain.

If I had no intention of moving from this house for at least 10 to 20 years I would have no hesitation in having one or the other types of solar panels fitted,

The question would only be what type and can I afford to buy myself, if I couldn't afford to buy it myself I would still have it installed under the free installation system,

Obviously everything being equal and your luck being fair and you negotiated a good deal you would make more out of it if you purchased yourself, as clearly they are making money out of the Free fitted units over and above your free electric. .

Hope that helps

Buy yourself if you can afford it, you get the income off them and some free electric, if they fit them free, they take the income and it could be around £1200 a year, there are options to go 50/50

Hi

That's the biggest problem in my opinion and that's why we have given them a miss as there could be problems if you decide to move, selling if you don't own them , there could also be a problem selling even if you do own them. and while I'm sure they work its really a long term project and we like you, have moved a number of times and while we really like where we are now, we have liked places just as much before and still moved within a few years

All the best in what ever way you go
