Spouse or partner taking your points ?

Listening to a debate about the Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce recent court case, and people were openly stating that they had also done this.

This got me thinking, my question is if someone tells you they have committed a crime are you then responsible to inform the authorities if they won't/haven't ?

Be very interested in your thoughts ? this can be about any crime ?

I am sure that we have all broken the law at some time -speeding, dropping litter accidently, drinking under age etc so it would be very difficult to report all crimes
If a person overtakes in a built up area when you are doing 30 do you take their number and report them to the police-its only their word against yours unless you have the eveidence-eg camera footage-then do the police want to know??
The silly thing is that we are locking up these people at the same time as letting the drug dealers off with just a warning!!

Hi, I agree, it was just that some people were ringing into a radio station and admitting that they had taken points for there partners and reminiscing about the situation, and I was wondering if there was a requirement on the part of a public broadcaster to notify the authorities if they are informed or made aware of a crime.
