| Hi All We currently have our Satellite Receiver in the motorhome that we got as part of our stand alone system when we first bought Helga (don't know the make). Now that we have the dome fitted, I was wondering whether we should upgrade the receiver. My dilema is: Should we go for a Freesat one (friends recommend Humax) or whether to buy an old/reconditioned Sky Reciver. We like to watch Pick TV at home but Freesat does not offer this channel but does most of the others that we watch. We do not have Sky but I have looked up their channel list and I am not sure if we have to subscribe to receive them. Also, would an older Sky receiver work on 12 volts? Any advice gratefully received [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Hi cheryl, If you want to use 12v they are not so readily available unless you pay stuped camping shop prices, I bought ours last year at currys which is 12/240v freesat so far it has been flawless.check first with this one that is is 12v as it does not say, as the one we got doesent look like its on here we paid £70.http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/logik-lhdfsat11-freesat-hd-receiver-12246926-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~TV%2c+DVD+%26+Blu-ray~12246926 There is no subscription with these.Hope this helps. | |

| thats alright Bob, thanks anyway. I was veering towards a Sky box really, but not sure whether you have to subscribe to watch channels like Sky Atlantic as I cannot see a channel list on their site (probably not looking in the right place!) | |

| if you know someone with sky.they can get the extra room box for a tenner a month, and you will get what they get to watch.
but if you do do this make sure you het them to tell sky that they have no land line in the house.otherwise you have to keep the box plugged into the landline i think for the first 12 months.
ps and you get the box. | |

ps and you get the box. The contract with sky for multiroom states that both boxes have to be connected to phone line even after the first 12 months

| Frank this is from Sky " Its mandatory to keep your box connected to an active telephone line. This is because Sky has to make sure that all the boxes are in the same address its not mandatory if you have only one box." | |

| well you cant get clearer than that.but i dont have a tv socket in the room i have my second box.never been plugged in to a telephone line.and never had a problem from sky.
i bet if you contacted sky and asked for an extra box,and tell them you have no telephone line in that room,i doubt they will refuse more buisness.

I agree with a lot you say Frank what they dont know wont hurt them , but I did originally ask for a 2nd box in a room with no phone point and they said no phone point no 2nd box unless you want to pay the full package instead of the £10 per month. Both boxes must be connected to the phone all the time you have multiroom. Whilst I am at home both boxes are connected but everytime I go away in the van I take both boxes with me , so mine must be not connected for many weeks or even months each year

| i think that many of the english bars in spain showing football use them, if you dont see the pint glass on the screen.they are not paying. we pay 1100 per month to sky to show football and racing. | |
