satellite tv alternatives

Is sat tv becoming a thing of the past with alternatives such as internet tv, recordable tv , usb hard drives etc...
Is it worth spending well over 1000 quid for something which is never that reliable! !!.
Nowadays you can easily record stuff to take with you for no charge or simply just stream tv programmes if you are in range of the internet.

I see where you are going Mark, but you need good internet connect with fast speed or all you get is buffering, thats why we could not get wifi at Calpe and Denia because peeps were downloading tv & films and the bandwidth wasn't big enough, like that on most sites in Spain ect.

We don't have satellite just a media player and hard drive, suits us fine.
