Burford school! I was there in the 60's and went to the Boarding School at the bottom of town next to the Church.

A really great place to visit. As mentioned elsewhere, Burford used to be - and maybe still is - in the Guinness Book Of Records for the amount of pubs and antique shops. I have never managed to get round all the pubs when we have an old boys meet!

The boarding school to the left of the Church main entrance is a superb building. As you look up at the top dormitory, that is where they used to throw boys out of the window onto the hedge. Thankfully it stopped when one of them broke an arm!

If you follow the path down the left hand side of the Church between it and the boarding school, you will then be on a small lane back to the main road. Look to the long building on the left just past the rear entrance to the boarding school. It is a large hall. Our music and french teacher Mr Dyer, used to have an office in there with a piano and I used to sit outside lost in his superb playing. He had a very twisted hand due to it being damaged during the war. Above the school and in the loft we found a walkway the full length of the hall. At the far end and nearest the main road you will see a window on the roof area. This at the time was an unused area. We built it as a secret place where we would cook rations stolen from the kitchen and generally lark about as boys do!

From Burford you can easily get to the picturesque village of Bourton On The Water where I lived in the late 50's. You can also go up the hill to Stow On The Wold, another nice place to visit. As you go through the traffic lights and up the hill to Stow, imagine me coming down the hill on a bike with half a handlebar and no brakes, given to me by the love of my life an American Girl. I was going so fast - no traffic lights then thank goodness - that at the bottom I swerved into the pub car park on the left and went round and round to slow down! Note the car park is not the same now and it would be impossible for me to do it again! Ah the days of reckless abandon!

I have put this in my diary and will try to come to the meet.

Oxford is a great place to visit if you haven't been before, as said previously this is ideally located en route to the Bournemouth meet we ideally need some more names down for this meet!

I am changing my plans slightly so might make it on Friday after all as long as I can get the night off, but I think we will be leaving Burford on Sunday, going from there to see Adeles sister for a couple of days, then to the Bournemouth meet on Tuesday for 4 nights, leaving there on Saturday

This is one location we've stayed at a few times and run rallies here ourselves in the past.  Is there a closing date for deciding to come and meet Izzy?

We need to collect something that weekend and this would make a great base for the weekend.

Almost as bad as house move this.
Just rung him Mark and no it will not be ready til wed as they have sent to germany for some parts.Problem i have is have taken nearly all the stuff out of the van (more than when i downsized my house ) so going anywhere at the minute is too much hassle,so the bournmouth meet is also looking unlikely  .I have booked a ferry 2nd sept so if everything goes ok that could be my first trip away  (if i get the ok for plate transfer)

That's a shame, good luck for next week & have a good trip next month.

Thanks to Ken for organising the Burford meet -a nice location with the village a 5 min walk away.
Thanks also to Chris for his pop up social gazebo/mini marquee-nice evening chats were possible in a dry warm environment
