4. Bournemouth meet - 26th Aug to 1st Sept 2014

We have booked 6 nights at the following site

Bournemouth
Dorset
BH8 0DZ
6 nights, arrive Tue 26th Aug, leave site Mon 1st Sept
Located on a bus route for easy access to Bournemouth.
From the 28th to the 31st of Aug, the Bournemouth Air Festival is on, this is a free event held on the sea front, we will be parked about 3 or 4 mile away, we will look at getting a mini bus into Bournemouth one day to the Airshow, (depends on numbers and price)
Why not tie this in with the Burford school meet which can be found HERE

£7 per unit per night, plus the usual £1 per person rally fee

This is one we would have loved to attend but unfortunately the dates are real bad for us, it is our 50th wedding anniversary on the 29th August and arrangements are already underway for a big family bash and it would be a logistical nightmare getting everyone to gather in Bournemouth

I just like to bump this meet as I was chatting to a few about this at the xmas meet last weekend.
Come & have a holiday in    Bournemouth, The airshow is free & spectating along the lovely Bournemouth promenade with views of the Isle of Wight is worth it.
& you can tie this meet in with the meet at oxford just before.

Directions

From Ringwood take the A338, and take the second turn off signpost Wimborne onto the A3060. turn right at traffic lights to Castle Point Shopping Centre into Yeomans Road. Carry straight ahead at rdbt onto unclassified road. Site is 200 yards on the right take a bit of care along the gravel road as it's a bit bumpy.

Lovely large level site. Walking distance to Castle Point shopping centre and buses into Bournemouth.
There is one communal WC on site which is very handy.The river is only a short walk or cycle.
Boscombe beach is around 5 miles.

It has just been announced that all 9 of the Red Arrows will be performing on all 4 days of the Airshow which will be held on this meet and it's free to spectate all along Bournemouth & Boscombe beaches!!

I've just noticed this meet is not on Facebook!
All other meets are on there   

Is it not? I'll have a look tomorrow when on pc, thought I had put them all on

 

Why would you want it on facebook ?  

All other meets are on there, with over 100 motor-Homers members using our Facebook site.

What's the point of having this site then ?

Each to their own John, just think it might get a few more facebook members which may not use this forum attending meets.

Personally I'm not a fan of Facebook, but what I am a fan of is meeting other motorhoming people & this meet is local to me. I think using Facebook for this is a great tool for maybe getting some more to attend.

I just think  that linking with facebook  degrades the forum and in some cases it is the cause of some  people who supported the forum not attending meets and raising funds

Just checked and the Bournemouth meet is on there

The Facebook was created not long after we set up Motor-Homers, 5 days after to be exact, it was created on the 18/11/2012.
It was set up to get the name of Motor-Homers about, yeah some people do use it for chatting and posting the usual facebook "shares" etc but like I said the sole purpose was to get our name about, just two week ago I put a post on facebook with a link to our group page on there and to the forum here, up to now we have had 46 people join the facebook group, and 30 of them have joined the forum, so my way of looking at it, it does work, it's not in the top 3 websites in the world for nothing, love it or hate it - it does work well.
I can't see why any member would stop attending meets because we have a Facebook page   if people don't like Facebook then surely they just don't go on there, they don't need to be in the group to come on here or attend any rallies.
Even though our rallies are put on facebook, it clearly states on there that anyone wishing to attend a rally must be a registered member on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
So, one post, 46 new Facebook members, 30 website members, does it pay to have a Facebook page????

Facebook is a great tool if used properly.

Of course some of you don't or won't use it, that is fine, but I see no reason to knock it.

I have just been over to the site for a nose about,it is quite a large rally field with facilities toilet block etc..
I will go again over the next few weeks & take some photos & confirm where we will be sited

What a sight that will be, can I still put our names down Mark?  Didn't do it before because we had quite a bit going on, got back Monday after 18 nights away, empty fuel tank, empty larder, empty wallet and empty bank account but some nice memories (mostly of full fuel tank, full wallet, bank account etc.).
