The UK government has announced that driverless cars will be allowed on public roads from January next year.
Now we really will be able to make the most of our motorhomes, image it now, kettle on, feet up, watching TV or even in bed, do all the travelling at night while your asleep  Very Happy

Seriuosly though, what do you make of this?
I think its a good idea and making the most of the technology we have nowadays, it's only a matter of time before all cars will be driven this way - will they still be cars though???
They have technology now to set your speed remotely, stop you getting too close to other vehicles, i'm surprised this hasn't been used more though

Some years ago in America, a new RV owner, read the manual and set off for a vacation. Onto the highway, set the cruise control, then, as the manual said, "Sit back and relax" decided to go and make a coffee, and sit back and relax! The inevitable happened, and, in due course the RV owner sued the company for compensation, claiming that the manual was followed to the letter. The judge agreed and awarded substantial compensation to the RV owner. Only in America. Driverless cars!

I think roads will be safer as a driverless car will never be in a bad mood, distracted or eating (or texting but I think that is covered by distracted  Very Happy )

Bring it on I say.

Don't think I would be happy in one!
It is said once a driver always a driver and as far as I am concerned it's true. I cannot relax in any vehicle when someone else is driving.

Oooooer the number of times my laptop crashes or hangs up and come to think of it two failures of modern car ECU's---I think I will choose to stay with the steering wheel please.
