| I have been playing around with the offline mapping app called Maps.me which is lokking good for an offline solution to display the sites and POI I have.
Its available in the Apple Store and Google play (But I have only tried the apple version)
I have managed to convert some data sets into the required format (kml) and you can import them either by email or dropbox. I have also figured out how to automatically assign different colours to each category and add create a set of automatic notes so the facilities available can be shown. Categories can be easily switched on and off - Attachments
- photo.png
- Shows differnt colour pins and data density
- You don't have permission to download attachments.
- (466 Kb) Downloaded 5 times

Cheers Ken, I have just added a highlighted link in the login section called "downloads" that leads you to a page where you can download the poi along with a colour pin of your choice. Once maps.me is installed on your device, the kml file should give you the option to open with map.me | |

| If you have google earth, you can check the kml format is correct, by opening the file with google earth. It will show an error message if the file is corrupt. | |

| I have tom tom sat nav, but I must confess that my favourite way of navigating, is by paper maps. Good maps contain an incredible amount of information, so I guess that makes me old fashioned, and when I find a good wild spot I mark it on the map. Sat navs used wisely are a good tool, but can lead the unwary right up the garden path! | |

| Just had another try, opens fine on PC (Windows 8) but wont show the pins on Google earth or maps.me on my HTC One android device for some reason, the kml file will open either program, no error messages but it won't show the pins   _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Its something to do with the download on Android possibly by using Dolphin browser, I'll look into this further. I downloaded it on my PC and emailed it to myself and they open fine _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Confirmed, it is an issue with Dolphin browser, tried it with Chrome and it worked fine.

| Very handy this Ian, used it a few times in different locations, will you be keeping the kml files updated?

| Hi Ken Hope your well, just come back from 3 weeks away and used maps.me extensively, it was really useful, great for route planning, never let us down once.- just remeber to download the areas you are going to first! Mrs C downloaded the app to her Samsung phone and we used that whilst walking about, marking the position of where we were parked first. The kml files are generated dynamically whenever you submit the request, so it is easy to just download an updated version, then delete the old version. I have literally just finished adding the additional inormation and tarrif fields to the downloads so you can update now if you want, but one thing I am going to add is that the additional information will only be available to people who have contributed to the site (ie added reviews or pictures) otherwise they will just get the name of the site. | |

| Thats what I used it for mainly as we were at 2 rallies and visiting relatives, did find one stop over on the way home with it though. I have downloaded all of the UK map so can zoom into street level anywhere even without an internet connection. Just left a review for the place I did find for a stop over, forgot to take a photo though but I have just uploaded a map of the actual location, the location on the site was way off _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Ken Thanks for adding a review, believe it or not, that is just up the road from us! (well about 5 miles or so) never visited it, probably because it is too close. I have edited the location. Have you updated your KML files? they should now include additional info and pricing fields.

| Ken, Good to hear it's working, you should now have loads of additional information in the notes sections. Maps me had an update recently and it looks even better with the white notes background rather than the green. To others, if you want to download the additional information rather than just the marker information you need to add at least 3 reviews then your membership level increases and you get access to the additional info. | |
