An Official Ban at Old Colwyn Prom. sea front...Colwyn Bay. Nth. Wales.

We stayed with another 3 motorhomes on the sea front at Old Colwyn in N.Wales for a night a short while ago. A friendly environmental person turned up and told us that an official motor home ban will be issued in the next couple of weeks to stop ALL overnight stop overs along the prom....so be warned.

There is lots of bad local feeling buzzing around. We were constantly beeb'd at, and our friends had an egg smashed against their M/H front windscreen.

Please, best keep away from now on........

I stay there quite a lot and park on my own here (1 night gone next morning) and have never had a problem.

but have noticed that here at the end of the prom the masses have started to park for days on end .So not surprised that this is another parking place lost. (there were 8 vans crammed in when i was there ,tables and chairs out and one running a genny)

The official was very friendly towards us, but said people who didn't even live in Colwyn Bay had stirred it up and action had to be seen to have been taken.
There are freshly painted white 'no go' lines, leaving just enough space for cars to park parallel to the sea, making it impossible for M/H's or campervans to even park up for the day, let alone overnight....But soon the Official no motorhome signs will go up.

Mind you, I wouldn't return there for a gold clock to face the car / motorbikes over revving and horn blasting as they pass......not to mention the egg throwing! 

You are right rebbyvid. When we were there, there were big R.V's with washing out on the prom railings and campers and M.H's that had obviously been there for some time!
