6. Franks Field - 27th July to 1st Aug

First topic message reminder :

Franks field is set in just under an acre of land adjioning the Leeds and Liverpool canal in west Lancashire (ormskirk)
We have open views of the coutryside looking towards Liverpool,
the field is gated and fenced (stock fence)
water and elsan point (each morning)
being on the canal we have 3 pubs within easy walking distance (2 serving food)
public transport is available at the top of the lane, the bus runs every half hour to Liverpool (45 mins) and Southport (30min)
we tend to have a lots of bbqs weather permitting and social gatherings (drinks)
the cost per unit is 1 x 5k bag of charcoal and the shared costs of the first bbq (I will organise all the food (and cook it)
after that you supply your own food, either cook it yourself or i will do it.
Maximum of 15 vans

Your rally marshal for this meet will be ?

Can I just add that the entrance is quite tight, you'll all get in but best if you stay outside the gate, come and let us know you have arrived and we will watch you in, we don't want any damaged vans do we

As I only got the go ahead for this meet late. The van is booked in for a service on Thursday.
Didn't leave a lot of time to plan. I will not be able to arrive until Saturday if that is OK.

What do I need to bring, Charcoal, etc

just a 5k bag of charcoal,and whatever meat/veg you would like to be bbqued.a few scoops and a smile.

Scoops ?   Chocolates my seen.

tipples if you like a drink or three we call it scoops.

Stopping at Asda to top up alcohol reserves tomorrow, should arrive around midday.

But can't gurentee how much will be left after I keep sampling it. Look on the bright side our George won't be round

bad storm here/thunder/lightning but all the field light are looking good.

Waiting for a break in the monsoon so I can get the van loaded up, not sure what time I'll get there, but get there I will.

Just don't bring the monsoon with you

The have found some warranty issues, so I'm leaving the van with them.
So unfortunately I will not be able to make it.

sorry to hear that you won be comng to franks field but you do need to have your van up to 100% catch up withyou somehere.

Yes Jim, They found things that I hadn't. Minor but never the less.

Arrived home after the journey from hell, accident at j18 on m6 held us up for 40 minutes then two road closures nearer home meant about a ten mile detour.
Sandra and I would like to thank Margaret and Frank for being excellent hosts and raconteurs (you can use that one in the Scrabble Frank) and hope that this meet continues in the future, we would also like to thank everyone else for making us so welcome on what was only our fourth meet with Motorhomers.
Sandra hopes that the next time we meet up she will be a bit more mobile.

A great weekend at Franks field despite the weather at times being a tad BBQ unfriendly.
A fantastic couple of BBQ's were had though and all sat out in the sunshine with our drinks and bbq'd meats etc.

Many thanks to Frank and Margaret for putting us up in their back garden and to Adele and Ken for their marshalling and bingo etc. and Michael for really being in charge of everything and for the jokes.

Back oop norf and the sun is shining and it's hot. Thanks to Frank and margaret for a good meet and for putting up with me with my flippin hay fever. But never mind, Michael raised my spirits and kept me on my toes! Polly I didn't get any Rocky Road.......just saying......Marbury? Had good walks along the Leeds/Liverpool canal, and my dog even managed to fall in the canal, thanks to polly for sme dry shampoo to get him smelling respectable again.

well thank you all for coming,apart from the rain it was a great weekend,very happy that you all enjoyed it,and michael aka bud lifted the spirits with his singing and jokes  .

Didn't expect anything else but a great meet at this location ,thanks to Frank and Margaret for their hospitality, and for everyone else who attended and helped to make it a great social gathering. It was not all booze and food as we managed a bus ride to Liverpool and Southport and a couple of games of bingo.If anyone has a decent bingo machine Adele would be interested in buying it off you .Also a thanks to Ken for making sure we kept on the right track on entry and exit, and i didn't need a push.  

Looks like I missed a fantastic meet.
