| I have bought a FonSimpl router for getting free wifi in large areas of Europe, the problem is I no longer have a BT account (gone to Sky) so I still have to pay for wifi connection even in the UK as well as Europe so I am going to sell it. The pictures explain the way it works and it is very easy to install straight into your BT router either by wireless or Ethernet connection, input the password (on rear of router) and then your off, free wifi everywhere (well nearly everywhere) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This is the price I paid for it so I am asking just £25 p.& p. included or collect at Kettlewell so grab a bargain. | |

| You join Fon instead of BT Bob, once you have got the box connected and registered, you can log into Fon hotspots _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| It don't work like that Ken, without being a BT customer I am called an Alien and have to buy credits to get free wifi. | |

| It is, you don't need a BT account. Your not trying to access the hotspots using your old BT details are you Bob _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Taken from their website
"A Fon Spot is made up of two separate, dedicated WiFi signals - one private signal just for you, one shared signal for other members and visitors to the network. It allows you to safely share a bit of WiFi with others and in return, they can share safely with you. All the Fon Spots together create a crowdsourced network where everyone who contributes connects for free.
To set up a Fon Spot all you need is a broadband connection and a Fon router. It works with any broadband connection anywhere in the world! Alternatively, if you are a subscriber of one our partners, the Fon feature comes pre-installed in the partner's DSL/Cable modem.
These partners have Fon integrated in their CPEs already." _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I've never heard that before, you have to pay if your not a fon user, but thats the idea of it, you plug your box in and create a hotspot at your house and you can connect to others just like they can connect to yours _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| I have done all that Ken n Baza and can connect to "MyPlace" or "FON_FREE_INTERNET" while in the flat but as soon as I go down town or even outside where I am receiving Fon signals I am asked to buy credit. I will try it out at Kettlewell with my MIFI and see what you think. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| I don't know about the setting up of them as I've never done one, but do you get the option of opting in or out like you do on BT (wouldn't think so or you wouldn't have bought one in the 1st place) Have you registered it? From memory when I log on with BT I get the option of which provider to use, BT broadband customer, BT Fon and there are others, is Fon one of them? I can't remember off hand _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| On the 1st image you put up, it tells you to buy one to connect for free. I don't think you have registered the device, looks like you have just registered with Fon so you can pay to access it.

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]As I thought, your not sharing. An Alien does not have a Fonera or Fon enabled router and is not sharing broadband. Aliens have an active account with Fon, receive community information and access Fon Spot by purchasing Fon WiFi passes. _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Hi Bob, we're watching this from Wetherspoons in Brid !
I think you're too old for this technology, and you need to donate it to a young thruster like what I am !!
We are thinking of getting one mainly because BT / SFR in France has never worked for us.
Keep us all informed.

| Does that mean if there is a group of motorhomes and one has fon the others can boost off of it, but you still need to find a hub with internet in the first place. | |

| HIa
When we were in Abergele on the phone 3G it showed up the fon maps showing quite a few hotspots But I could not latch onto any. None were showing up on ipad.
I took the booster out with us a coupe of times (sad I know but wanted to test it) but no hotspots showed up and could not connect to any
One that did keep turning up but locked was motorhomewifi???? (? Numbers think it was 66)
Just thought I would mention it

| Were you opening the page I set up for you Polly? the 10.20.30.40 in Safari, then going to Wi-Fi and searching? The motorhomewifi you saw would be your router, always picks your own up but obviously you can't connect to it _________________ Keeping Leapys boat sailing [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
