not had my moneys worth yet and i bought it at the Cheshire showground last year Polly, thats a shame and I think you need someone local or at the next meet to take you through the system. I have had it now for two years and would say 90% of our time away we get some sort of wifi connection in France, UK, Germany and Spain. It is a little fiddly until you get the hang of it, but I would recommend it 100%.

But thanks John I will persevere Polly, no it works anywhere. I was in a field in the middle of wales last week and could get a signal to BT-Fon, which I think was from the farm I could see about 3 miles away on the other hill and it worked for the 3 days I was parked up. I'm using it now in a village here in France with out problem.

| After 3 weeks in France and Germany, have to say I was disappointed with our motorhome wifi iboost. Tried every day to find wifi and only managed 4 times to connect to SFR with FON. Other times there was either no unlocked wifi available or no spots with fon or simply no wifi. What did work every day is tethering the phone to the ipad. H+ in 90% of the cases even in remote areas. We are on Vodafone so it cost £2 day to use our uk plan (2gb which we did not exceed and we used it a lot) So in summary: £2 a day x 21 days = £42 worked every day iBoost £190 worked 4 times | |

| Well I am sorry to hear Searchforsites are not happy with the iBoost and of course Polly who has had trouble from day one with the iBoost....just persevere and I think you will be happy with it in the end......I have both the old original big booster from motorhome wifi and that one is excellent and still working well...but with it only being usb connection it is only good for laptop and no good for tablets and smartphones ...... so I purchased the iboost several years ago ......now this is good and it's wifi so we can run all our laptops ,netbooks , tablets , Smartphones all at the same time from one booster....BUT ....it does take some under standing at first....I found that out, a bit more to take in.. as the old one was just plug usb and connect easy..but if you can work out the technical side...you are laughing... if not *********** ....now I travel all over France...and it is very rare I can not get a sfr/fon signal for the free wifi...I do always top my SFR sim card up before setting off for around 4gb and last's for a month ... we only use that for buying...or private...banking....but we always come 3gb + left that we loose after returning home...due to us using the FON all the time....I also have a fon box at home which other people use and you can see when the fon box is working...now I am in Portugal and been using the booster to get free wifi but it's not just that ...but you normally a lot better signal than others...so iBoost is not just for fon....and when we come back into the UK for a month we get straight onto BT/fon...I find the iboost excellent ......and I also find the fon network brilliant ....and it works well for me .......but the iBoost does take a little working out at the beginning.....I do hope you change your mind....and get to like it....Polly I just don't know what to say about your iBoost | |

| Just one question for the searchforsites.....are you a Fon Member...do you have a Fon box and password....or are you a BT internet member in the UK..with a BT address and Password..if not that may be your problem just a thought..........Now I was talking to a member on here who has been having trouble getting Fon in France.....and this time he thought he had cracked it....but ....NO ...I think Fon give new people 1 hour free and that is what he was connected to..after the free hour disconnection..so now he has purchased a FON box.....separate to the BT which he had but it was a business address and it did not seem to recognise it... now he has a fon box and a Fon password............I do know other people that have had problems in France getting onto Fon/Sfr ....one was, because he had registered/changed to BT but he used his old email address like Virgin.. the fon system would not recognise a none BT email add...so he had to change and now it works....I am just saying these things just in case they help you or others | |

| I made my own through the roof mast using a Status aerial roof grommet and some 36mm acrylic pipe. I can now find the strongest signal while indoors and gain maximum height. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Don't forget if it's the flat box iBoost directional.(not the round tube omni)it has to be pointed in the direction of the FON..or BT signal then tuned in for the best signal..by moving the box side to side,,up and down..but only small movements at a time and waiting for it to settle before moving again...when best signal is achieved..tighten up ..try and get as many colours as you can get it starts two reds..then red/orange,,two orange/yellows..two yellow greens...then 3 greens then about 3/4/5 blues..the more colours you get the better signal...you will see these colours in "MAIN" on the top title bar | |

| I don't think there is a limit. Only limited by bandwidth. We've had 5 but pointless receiving email on all of them This was the orginal motorhome wifi that Adam sold. DonQuixote "John" has copied me but using Adams later panel antenna. I posted the acrylic pipe to him in Spain. | |

Yes and still the cheapest place. I use a 12 volt lead though as the cigarette lighter adapter lead is only 9 volts and I had trouble with it. This is John's version (he has made considerable effort to waterproof it for permanent outdoors) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
